AVATAR is talked about everywhere. It is nominated 9 times for the Oscar 2010 and is likely to win several awards. Avatar is a 2009 US science fiction epic movie scripted and directed by versatile movie director James Cameron, with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang starring. The term Avatar originated in Indian mythology. It is "god's visit to Earth to fix smth that is broken". Being one of the three gods shielding creation, Vishnu visits Earth regularly. As Hindu mythology state, Vishnu is dark-blue in color. Having been possibly inspired by Hindu mythology, James Cameron has also decided to make the aliens blue. Set in the year 2154 on an alien moon called Pandora located the Alpha Centauri star system, Avatar movie tells the timeless story of greed, immaturity and the ferocity that arises out of ignorance. The story revolves around a soldier - Jack - who comes Pandora the moon placed in the Alpha Centauri star system in order to help The Corporation intending to mine and export unobtainium - a precious mineral. The Na'vi are the alien sentient humonoid species thriving on Pandora. They are a part of a huge symbiotic living system that contains both animals and plants which are connected by an intricate biological communication network. The Corporation wants to mine the planet and the Na'vi fight against the conquerors for their homeland. The rapid expansion of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of the local tribe. While on a mission, Jake is taken in by the Na'vi and gets acquainted with their culture, language and habitat. Natirii, the female Na'vi he meets in the forest, helps him through this journey. Avatars are biological creatures made from human and alien DNA. They are controlled by a human from whose DNA they were made. The soldier controls an avatar that is made from his brother's DNA. AVATAR is an idealistic movie demonstrating an ideal world. The end of the film is especially poignant. The visual effects are breath-taking. The alien world Cameron and his highly professional team show to the viewer is one of the most carefully thought-out and consistent. The film is really worth viewing. |
